BIG BEND - Royal Leopard maintained their four-point lead at the summit of the MTN Premier League with an astonishing 5-0 victory at the expense of Tambuti.

Former Tambankulu Callies player Wandile ‘Shaka’ Simelane scored his first brace after signing with ‘Ingwe mabalabala’ at the beginning of the season. Now with 22 points and four points advantage ahead of closest challengers Mbabane Highlanders, Leopard pronounced their determination to maintain their league dominance as they preyed on the hosts in their own backyard at Mayaluka Stadium yesterday, sinking their deadly claws and devoured Tambuti to take home three points.

Favoured by the swirling south-easterly wind, the mighty hunters took the lead through Berry Steenkamp, who levelled a cross received from his accomplice Sifiso ‘Junior’ Magagula in the 25th minute. This was after missing two clear goals in the first half, a 15-minute header by captain Muzi ‘Mzoro’ Dlamini and Steenkamp’s off target tap in from within scoring range.

Easy

The log leaders had an easy task in dismantling Tambuti’s porous defence and Junior Magagula capitalised on a defensive error and stretched ‘Ingwe Mabalabala’s lead in the 70th. The second half goal opened flood gates of more goals for the CAF Confederations Cup contenders who added three more  goals.
Tambuti failed to pull a comeback despite the wind blowing in their favor as Mbuseni Motsa’s persistence was not at par with accuracy. They registered their sixth defeat, leaving them with only two points in eight games from two draws.

Cost

Distracted by the looming defeat, Tambuti’s lack of focus cost them another goal as Bongani Ndzimandze final took one home eight minutes before full time to make it 3-0. Taking after the legendary Zulu warrior King, former Callies player, Wandile ‘Shaka’ Simelane scored twice after substituting Steenkamp, in the 85th minute and in two minutes added time to sink the hearts of Tambuti who are struggling to bottom of the log table.
