NHLANGANO – A 70th minute goal by substitute Bhekumuzi Mamba steered Manzini Sea Birds to position seven on the MTN log standings following their 1-0 win over a wasteful Tambuti FC here yesterday.

Mamba finished with great aplomb from an awkward angle a good pass from Muzi Tsabedze, beating Tambuti FC goalkeeper Mndeni Lukhele hands down twenty minutes before time. The goal proved to be the winner in a closely-contested clash and lifted the Manzini side from position eleven to seventh on the log standings.

Tambuti FC who started brightly, missed a catalogue of chances with striker Wandile Dlamini being the main culprit have only themselves to blame for suffering a fifth defeat in seven games played this season. Striker Wandile’s 22nd minute miss will probably rank as ‘miss of the season’ after he beat two defenders, Jabulani Mabuza and Mfundo Zwane, who came face-to-face with the goalkeeper, Bafana Ngwenya but shot woefully wide.

Mlandvo Nkonyane watched in utter dismay when his thunderous shot cannoned off the bar two minutes before the half-hour mark as Tambuti FC chased for the opener. Sea Birds acrobatic keeper, Ngwenya made a stunning save to deny Banele Shongwe from point-blank range a minute before half time. Then came Sea Birds’ Bhekumuzi Mamba’s decisive moment in the 71st minute. He picked up a Muzi Tsabedze good pass and fired an unstoppable shot into the net from an awkward angle to give ‘Izinyoni Zolwandle’ their third win of the season.
