MBABANE – Despite that Mbabane Highlanders striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa is not scoring goals, other players at the capital city side are stepping up.

South African import Tony ‘Ben 10’ Machacha on Saturday netted an equaliser against Moneni Pirates to earn Highlanders a point in their home 1-all draw. That vital goal did not only protect Highlanders’ unbeaten run in seven games but it also helped the player enter the scorers chart race. He has three goals to his name. He is fifth on the race along with seven players.

These are Barry Steenkamp, Innocent Dlamini, Mike Dombo, Sandile ‘Saviola’ Gamedze, Mthunzi ‘Xavi’ Mkhontfo, Thabiso Mokenkoane and Felix Badernhost. ‘Ben 10’ last scored 15 days ago, when he netted a brace in their 4-2 triumph against Green Mamba at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium. ‘Sikhali’ last scored on November 27 when they beat Denver Sundowns 3-1. Ndzinisa scored a brace on the day. Despite ‘Ben 10’ and the other players closing in, they will have to work hard to catch up with those with the baton. ‘Sikhali’ is still leading with seven goals and is closely followed by Manzini Sea Birds’ Muzi Tsabedze with Royal Leopard’s Junior Magagula and Sea Birds’ Mthokozisi Gwebu on four goals each.

Reached for comment, Eswatini Football Coaches Association (EFCA) Secretary, Musa Mamba urged ‘Sikhali’ to up his game. “The other players are fast catching up with him. He must step up and show what he is capable of. I still believe he stands a good chance of winning the golden boot award,” Mamba said.
Asked about ‘Sikhali’s competitors, he said; “This means coaches have improved their tactics especially on attacks. Coaches are now opting for aggressive football; however what I noted is that teams are conceding goals. Coaches must also   work on their defence,” he said. Efforts to get ‘Sikhali’ or ‘Ben 10’s comments were fruitless as they were unreachable when called yesterday. The golden boot award carries a package of E12 000.
