MBABANE – The MTN Premier League will only take a one-week break over the festive season.

This will be during the Christmas and Boxing Day weekend. The teams will last play week seven this coming weekend and they will then take the short break before bouncing back to action midweek on December 28 and 29 and also play on January 1 and 2, 2022. This is according to the correspondence released by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE).

“This memo serves to notify all member clubs that both the MTN Premier League and the MTN NFD games will continue the full month of December 2021. The league games will be played on December 18-19, December 28-29, January 1-2 and January 8-9. All members are expected to continue honouring their fixture programmes which will be released in due course,” reads part of the PLE statement.

Meanwhile, the PLE requested all members to strictly follow the laid down COVID-19 regulations every time to avoid the spread of the virus. The PLE encourages clubs to continue promoting vaccination among its members to reduce their chances of being infected thus reducing the likelyhood of the virus transmission.
Meanwhile, the PLE announced that they would be closing their offices next Wednesday and would be back on December 27. “Stakeholders are notified that the PLE will close its offices. The PLE takes this time to wish all its stakeholders, member clubs, officials and staff a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year,” ends the statement.
