MBABANE – International doors may be opening for Royal Leopard attacking winger Bonginkhosi ‘Manyovu’ Dlamini.

He impressed Grupo Desportivo Sagrada Esperance Coach Roque Sapiri after the two-legged clash between the two sides. The coach did not hide it as he made it clear that he was yet to approach the player’s representatives or Royal Leopard over the possibility of a move to the Angolan side for the former Sihlangu winger.
Dlamini played about 65 minutes of the second leg game which the police side won 1-0 on Saturday at Mavuso Sports Centre. He was then rested for Zweli ‘Mlilo’ Nxumalo while he played for the full 90 minutes in the first leg 1-3 loss away in Luanda. He scored ‘Ingwe Mabalabala’s lone goal.

“The player, who was wearing jersey eight, is good and I will have to check if there is a possibility of signing him,” said the Portuguese speaking coach through his interpreter after the post-match press conference. Royal Leopard players have struggled in the past to make a move internationally as a majority of them are police officers. Those who were about to make a move, but all things then fell apart include the late Mzwandile ‘Zoo’ Mamba and Mcolisi ‘Stopper’ Mthethwa among others.

Esperance progressed to the TOTALEnergies CAF Champions’ League group stages after the 3-2 win on aggregate while Royal leopard dropped to the CAF Confederation Cup. Dlamini cannot be eligible to play for Esperance in the CAF Champions League even if the move happens as he will be cup-tied. Leopard Public Relations Officer (PRO) Frank Hurube confirmed that the Angolan club had shown interest in the player and they even requested to have an interview with him.
“They approached us and indicated that they were interested in the player. He is our player and we will wait for them and see how far they take this,” he said.
