MBABANE – An exclusive 22 points saw George Lys being crowned champion of the United General Insurance (UGI) Leg of Lamb Golf tournament.

Lys was among 22 golfers who took to the greens at the Ezulwini Golf Club (former Royal Swazi Spa Golf Club) on Friday, where five top scorers were honoured for remarkable play. It took 21 points for Paul Fortune to claim the second place while Bongani Mamba settled for third position as he fell one point short. Also separated by one point were Sifiso Nxumalo and Futhi Dlamini who scored 19 and 18 points respectively. Meanwhile, Bongani Mamba was recognised for nearest to pin 18     and the longest drive on hole 13 incentive went to Jappie Maritz.

UGI Operations Manager Patric Gamedze congratulated all winners and commended them for their dedication to the sport. He said the weekly tournament double played as a platform for business networking as golfers shared ideas while enjoying a good day of golf. “We had a good tournament as golfers came to refresh at the end of the week. As the sponsor, UGI is grateful for the support we get from other companies and members of the public. I also want to encourage them to get vaccinated for COVID-19 as this is our only hope to get back to our normal lives,” Gamedze said. In the absence of prize presentations, which was implemented as a precautionary measure guarding against further spread of COVID-19, winners claim their vouchers a day after the tournament.
