MBABANE – Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Board of Governors will learn on Saturday during the scheduled Annual General Meeting (AGM) how former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Simanga Nhleko continues to draw a E30 000 monthly stipend from the organisation.

Nhleko successfully won an unfair dismissal case against the PLE and was awarded E684 000 by the Industrial Court almost a year ago. An informed source at the PLE Board of Governors told the Times Sports Desk that part of the agreement between Nhleko’s legal representatives from MLK Ndlangamandla Attorneys was a down payment of E150 000 and then the rest of the money due to Nhleko to be paid in E30 000 monthly instalments. “The agreement means the PLE will be paying Nhleko the sum of E30 000 until the legal bill is settled. The PLE has already paid over 70 per cent of the total figure if you consider that they made a down payment of E150 000,”the source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said. The PLE has reportedly settled the legal fees due to another former CEO Zwelonkhe ‘Sport’ Dlamini which was about E160 000. Dlamini had also taken the PLE to court for unfair dismissal after his contract was terminated in 2013 and he sought a compensation of E644 999.

confidential

PLE Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati said agreements between the organisation and its former CEO, Simanga Nhleko were strictly confidential. “We signed a confidentiality clause with the legal representatives of Nhleko. We cannot comment on what was agreed upon. That’s all I can say on this matter,’ Vilakati said. Reached for comment, Nhleko also declined to comment on the matter. “This is a legal matter; I would suggest you talk to my lawyers about it. I can’t deny or confirm any of the figures you are talking about,” Nhleko said briefly. The Times Sports Desk also gathered that the bill in the matters involving the unfair dismissal of the two Chief Executive Officers, Nhleko and Dlamini, has run up to close to E1 million largely because of the huge legal costs accrued. The PLE will hold it’s AGM on Saturday at Sigwaca House and top of the agenda will be the organisation’s financial statements which were deferred during the meeting held a week ago.
