EZULWINI – Despite the court ruling in Eswatini Football Association (EFA)’s favour, the eleven HRFA teams caused a stir during the elective committee annual general meeting.

Eleven teams under Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA) last Thursday moved an urgent application at the High Court to restrain the EFA Ethics Committee and Eswatini Football Association (EFA) from proceeding with the executive committee elections pending FIFA’s intervention. However, the High Court ruled in favour of EFA and EFA Ethics Committee citing that the 11 teams had no locus standi. This means that they had no power to challenge the EFA, but rather they should have appealed to the HRFA as that is where they are affiliated.

defeated

Just when everyone thought they were defeated, some of the officials came at the Happy Valley Hotel and made loud statements with their placards. Some of the messages inscribed on the placards read: ‘This is fraud’, ‘Samora save our football’, ‘We demand our rights to vote in the General Assembly’, and ‘Clubs are delegates’. When interviewed, they said the message was on the wall for every delegates to see. Chairman of the Zinyane All Stars FC Myengwa Sibandze said despite that he was not at the elections; the placards were nothing but views from the teams. “They wanted to make their delegates aware how they felt about the whole elections scenario,” said Sibandze who was among the applicants who went to court. He also disclosed that they would appeal the judgment but highlighted they were seeking legal advice before appealing.
