MBABANE – All is not well for former Mbabane Swallows coach Honour Janza, who has been suspended as the Technical Director by Zambian top side, Napsa Stars.

He is not the only official to be place on administrative leave this season, but with others including Coach Mohamed Fathi, Logistics Manager Gift Chaipa and Club Administrator Daniel Chiboleka. The suspension was effective from yesterday. Honour Janza led Swallows for only one season. After the COVID-19 outbreak in March, 2020, Honour left Swallows for his home country, Zambia, as football was suspended almost all over the world. His resignation at the ‘Birds’ was announced by the club’s President Bishop Bheki Lukhele on September 24, 2020.

Left

“On behalf of Mbabane Swallows I would like to inform all the fans and stakeholders that our coach Honour Janza has left the club. “This is after he sent a letter requesting that we terminate his contract due to personal reasons. “These primarily include wanting to be close with his family during this COVID -19 pandemic and that he may not be able to fulfil his duties come the start of the new season due to a travel ban as he is on lockdown in his native country. Having weighed up his request and looking at the current situation worldwide, we saw it fit to grant him his wish and terminated his contract today (yesterday),” said Lukhele back on September 24, 2020. According to the.africatopsports.com, the suspension comes after a string of poor results by the team.

poor

“The development comes after a string of poor performance by the team which has brought serious concerns to the sponsors, the Board, fans and other stakeholders,” reads a statement from media and public relations officer Gwen Chipasula. Napsa Stars were, not too long ago, singing praises to an Egyptian coach after guiding the club to the CAF Confederation Cup group stages for the first time ever. Now, in the domestic leave, Napsa are slightly above the relegation zone, placed on position 15 with 36 points from 28 games. Kitwe anchor the 18-member log table which Zesco United lead on 58 points from 28 games. Sending coaches on administrative leave is becoming fashionable in Zambia. In the last few months, coaches for Nkana FC and Power Dynamos have also been sent home in a similar manner, usually never to return to their jobs.
