MBABANE – The national team, Sihlangu, will get down to business in early June.

They will feature in a series of friendly matches against Lesotho and Mozambique in Maputo. The friendly matches are in preparation for the 2021 Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) Cup.
Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe said Sihlangu would be engaged in some activities during the FIFA international week that starts month end of June 15.
“We cannot reveal anything now but definitely the national team will be engaged during the FIFA week. There is a programme that they will be following and more information will be communicated in due course,” he said.

Sihlangu under coach Dominic Kunene was last in action on March 30 when they settled for a 1-all draw against Senegal in Dakar, during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. They had lost 1-3 to Guinea-Bissau at Mavuso Sports Centre four days before travelling to Senegal. Meanwhile, Lesotho is already ahead in terms of preparations after having already announced their squad for the games.

According to the cosafa.com, Lesotho coach Thabo Senong has named a 24-man squad to face Mozambique and Eswatini in friendly matches scheduled for early June. Senong has made several changes to his squad that played Sierra Leone and Nigeria respectively in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in March. Lesotho’s squad will feature international players including American based defender Kabai Mahlatsane, who is playing for Gardner Webb University and Napo Matsoso and Lesia Thetsane, who also plays their football in the USA. The Lesotho mentor has also recalled the experienced trio of Tsoanelo Koetle, Tshwarelo Bereng and Luciano Matsoso, who make a return to the national team after a long absence. Senong told cosafa.com that his squad has a mixture of experienced and young players and is looking forward to their camp that starts next week.
