MBABANE – The Eswatini Women Football Association will have a new executive in the next two months.

The EWFA has confirmed the date for their elective Ordinary General Assembly and the set date is July 18, 2021. Interestingly, the OGA would be elective as members take to the poles to vote for the new executive. As per the EWFA statutes that were approved by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA), as stated in Article 34, the new executive board would comprise the chairman, vice chairman and five executive members. Noteworthy is that the positions of the secretary general and the treasurer would be excluded from the elections as these would now be employed on a full time basis by the EFA. The new constitution, which was adopted by EWFA members last week during the EWFA extraordinary meeting held at Sigwaca House, as prescribed in Article 34, Section 4, that the mandate of the  chairman, vice-chairman and the five executive committee members shall be four years and are eligible to be re-elected.

required

Section five of Article 34 further lists six obligations that the executive committee members shall conform to. The candidates are required to be aged above 18 and be a liSwati by nationality, must be involved in the executive committee of a league or must have served in the executive of the EWFA or EFA for a period not exceeding four years. It further says that the candidate must have had training in football or any other sport administration and must not have been inactive for a period exceeding four years. The most crucial clause was that the candidate must not have been found guilty of any criminal offence for which he or she was sentenced to a term of imprisonment of six months or more without an option of a fine in that last five years, excluding traffic offences. The outgoing secretary general, who disclosed his interest in the chairmanship of the association, Aaron ‘Katalala’ Mavimbela, said the members had already been notified in writing about the place and date of the lections at least 60 days in advance. Through a correspondence sent to the teams early this week, Mavimbela requested members to submit names of the nominees and their proposals.

Amend

“Members are also requested to send to the secretariat some written proposals to amend the statutes at least 30 days before the date of the AGM,” said Mavimbela through the statement sent to teams.
