MBABANE – A ruthless Young Buffaloes yesterday broke a four-year-and-six-month highest scoring league record set by Mbabane Swallows on November 9, 2016, when they flummoxed a hapless Tinyosi FC 8-0 in a one-sided MTN League clash here yesterday.

Swallows, during that memorable Wednesday night of November 9, 2016 at Somhlolo National Stadium massacred Red Lions 8-1 with lanky striker Sandile Hlatshwako netting four goals in a record win under the MTN League sponsored competition. Yesterday, not only did the army side set a new record (8-0) eclipsing the four year-and-six-months record, but towering striker Phiwa ‘Silwabelwabe’ Dlamini also matched Hlatshwako’s record then but the  defending champions kept the pressure on current log leaders, Royal Leopard.

race

For a good measure, with the race for the E350 000 first round incentive, now having turned into a two-horse race after Mbabane Swallows fell out of the chasing pack, following a demoralising 1-all draw with Tambankulu Callies at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium. Back to the Buffaloes massacre of the Premier League rookies, diminutive winger, Bongiswa Matsebula and Banele Mkhabela helped themselves to a brace each as Phiwa Dlamini stood head and shoulders above the rest – literally and figuratively speaking – with a four-goal blitz that took his personally tally to 12 goals, two goals ahead of controversially registered Mbabane Highlanders striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa.

lead

With the time it takes to boil an egg, exactly four minutes, Buffaloes took the lead when Bongwa Matsebula finished off a loose ball after an initial shot by Mkhabela was blocked by the goalkeeper Sisekelo Maseko.
Seven minutes after the half-hour-mark it was 2-0 when Mkhabela’s curling shot unmarked inside the box proved too quick and too deceptive for the desperate hands of the goalkeeper Maseko. When Mkhabela completed his brace in the 55th minute after his 25-yard shot deflected off defender Msimisi Dlamini sending the goalkeeper the wrong direction it became a matter of how many goals if not the army side would add to the goal tally.
goal-blitz. Then Phiwa started his four goal-blitz a minute after the hour-mark, scoring with a low shot unmarked inside the box.
