MBABANE – Blowing hot and cold is not working in Mbabane Highlanders coach Dumisani ‘DU’ Makhanya’s favour.

Mbabane Highlanders Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe has stated bluntly that the team supporters were not happy with the coach’s tactics as the team was inconsistent. “When the supporters are not happy, I am not happy. Losing games like this is affecting a lot of people as you know that Mbabane Highlanders is a big team with many supporters,” said Kgomongwe. The capital city giants suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat at the hands of Green Mamba during a MTN Premier League fixture at Tambankulu Stadium on Saturday. The setback came just when Mbabane Highlanders had stunned log leaders Young Buffaloes 2-0 at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium during last week’s midweek league games.

Target

South Africa-born forward Kenneth Moloto and Sihlangu goal poacher Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa were both on target to see the black and white outfit end Buffaloes’ 25 league match unbeaten run. Asked if he was exploring his options, Kgomongwe replied: “We have a culture of sitting down to discuss issues at Highlanders, even if we were considering hiring a coach, that is not something we would like to divulge to the media.”
Meanwhile, according to sources close to the team, the MD was left very unhappy after the defeat to Caleb Ngwenya’s troops. When reached, the Pretoria-based businessman confirmed Highlanders should be winning games consistently by now. “The MD is not happy with the coach Dumisani ‘DU’ Makhanya’s leadership as the team lacks consistency, blowing hot and cold,” confided a source. The source said the team had quality players and there was no reason it should be losing games and placed eighth on the log.

Losing

Meanwhile, while Highlanders are losing games, Kgomongwe’s Ally Tigers are winning games at the ABC Motsepe League where they currently top the table. When reached, Highlanders’ National Supporters Committee (NSC) Chairman Kenneth Dlamini conceded results were not good for the team. “Whatever must be done to fix our challenges and get positive results must be done,” said the chairman. He added that it was important to be patient with each other because people might blame someone else yet the problem was elsewhere.
