MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers is denying any links with former Orlando Pirates defender Benson Mhlongo.

South Africa’s online publication, Kick off reported yesterday that the former South Africa’s Bafana Bafana player will take over the coaching reins from Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe. Manzini Wanderers Management Commiitee (MC) Chairman Rueben ‘Rhoo’ Nxumalo said there were no negotiations between the two parties and the matter was new to him. “The team is currently under the guidance of Nyanga Hlophe and we are not aware of Benson Mhlongo coming here,” he said.

Arrive

Kick off reported that Mhlongo, who is currently in charge of ABC Motsepe League outfit Mbombela City Lads, was due to arrive in the country this week to finalise the deal with Wanderers. The magazine quoted sources from Wanderers saying Mhlongo’s salary at the club will be paid by an unnamed businessman based in South Africa. “Benson Mhlongo is due to arrive in Eswatini to join Manzini Wanderers. His salary is expected to be paid by a businessman based in Mpumalanga,” the source told KickOff.com. Wanderers have blown hot and cold this season, and currently placed on the seventh spot on the log standings after the 2-1 win over Manzini Sea Birds on Saturday at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium.
