MBABANE – He has not lost his love for football.

Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga was among the few spectators during the MTN Premier League double-header last Sunday at the Prince of Wales Ground. The first game saw Manzini Wanderers coming from a goal down to steal a point against Tinyosi FC while Green Mamba needed to dig deeper into their reserves of courage before taking all points against Malanti Chiefs in the main match of the day.

mingling

The minister, in a relaxed and social mood, was seen mingling with some of those who were watching from the sidelines. He watched the entire first match and left towards the end of the second game. As a former football player, it was obvious that Bulunga has great love for the game. He played much of his football at Umbelebele Cosmos, where he was to later become a successful coach before football authorities handed him the Sihlangu coaching post.

coached

He has also coached Moneni Pirates among the local elite clubs. It is worth noting that a number of football followers are able to follow games at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground because the fencing is not up to international standards. As witnessed in previous games at the venue, football fans have been able to gain access to games along the terraces of the venue, something that was visible even on Sunday. Police officers present would be seen occasionally speaking to the fans but no action was taken as they were viewed as being outside the venue.
