I AM A FULLY-FLEDGED ADMINISTRATOR – ‘DINO’

Addressing students from Stellenbosch University in August 2011, former South Africa President Thabo Mbeki borrowed a quotable quote from Jack Ma, or Mǎ Yún, a Chinese businessman, investor, co-founder of Alibaba Group, a multinational technology company, and one of the richest people globally and the second-wealthiest person in China with a net worth of US$50 Billion, to hammer home his salient point.

“Teachers always want their students to exceed them, so the responsible thing… for me and the company to do is to let younger, more talented people take over in leadership roles.”
The point being made was the importance on giving the youth an opportunity on the ropes of leadership. This seems to have been the reason behind Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga appointing the upcoming sports administrator, Celucolo ‘Dino’ Dlamini as Chairman of the Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council (ESRC). It was a bolt from the blue. It was unforeseen and intriguing, but the former Eswatini Schools Sports Association (ESSA) president, Confederation Of Southern Africa Schools Sports Association (COSASSA) vice president, former Chief Executive Officer for both Matsapha United and Mbabane Highlanders and a teacher by profession (head teacher at Dinani High School) is unperturbed. He says he is a fully-fledged sports administrator who will take to the unenviable task like a fish to water.

“I want to thank the Honourable Minister, Harries Bulunga, for having faith in me and all those who supported and encouraged me since my appointment. I am a fully-fledged sports administrator and there is nothing that is a challenge as long as you get the support. The experience I have nationally and internationally will help me a lot,” opined the fearless former Pigg’s Peak Bush Bucks central defender. If he exhibits just a fraction of his fearlessness, no-nonsense approach and calm demeanour that has served him well wherever he has been, ‘Dino’ might just be our modern day Moses to take our sports to the promised land. In not so many words, he outlines why he thinks our football leadership can improve and why he thinks as president of the Eswatini Schools Sports Association (ESSA) he achieved a lot in the seven years he has been in charge.
