MBABANE – Moneni Pirates Managing Director, Advocate Nqobizitha Mlilo is of the view that it is much better to under promise players and over deliver than to do the opposite.

Speaking on national radio yesterday, the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services’ (EBIS) Sports Show, Mlilo said the most important assets in a team were players and supporters. It was uncovered that he had 23 players and said even in South Africa; teams in the PSL opted to keep manageable squads. “If I say I will pay you E2 on the 25th, I must pay you that money on the agreed date, but not pay you 50 cents. “Rather pay the player E3 which is why I want a manageable squad,” he said. He said players must be paid when salaries were due and there should be no complications.

welfare

“The approach is to say let’s make sure the welfare, the concerns and needs of the players are well taken care of. It is better to keep a small squad and pay players on the day the money on which involved parties agreed on. These people have families and responsibilities, football is their work and they make a living through it. They must be treated as people at work with needs, interests and dreams. “I don’t want to have a conversation where it is being discussed players have not been paid for a month, two or three months.  “To supporters, I want to say I met the National Supporters Committee (NSC) and said they wanted to be heard and establish a structure where the secretary and chairman will form part of the Management Committee (MC). “We will go around visiting branches to ensure that we are on the same level and understanding on what is to happen. The executive will be composed of all females,” he said. The advocate added that there should be a conversation with corporate Eswatini despite that they understood the impacts of COVID-19.

empowerment

He said Pirates should be an organisation that was unapologetically pro-women empowerment and said it was inconceivable that they did not have the Matsenjwa’s representatives in team management structure. He said some members of the family would be involved in the company. He also punched holes in the common practice by some local teams to publicise assets they have bought for teams and said those were solely for the purposes of running the team and there was no need to make it public.
