MBABANE – Professional golfer James Pennington is ready for his maiden debut in the Kit Kat Group PROAM Qualifiers.

The qualifiers for the E1million prize tag tournament would be played on March 4 at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club. Those who will qualify will play in the three days Kit Kat Group PROAM starting from March 5 to 7 at the same venue.
There are only 10 slots in the main tournament and Pennington will have to battle with the over 70 golfers who have entered for the one day qualifiers. The Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC) brand ambassador will be up against golfers from almost all over the world including countries, England, Scotland, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and United States of America (USA), among others.

Pennington confirmed that he would be playing in the qualifiers and his training had been good ahead of the tournament. “I opened with -2 68 today (yesterday) in a smaller tour that comes to end on Wednesday (today). I’m excited that I will be playing at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf as I have played a number of times,” he said. The story of Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club began in 1890, a privately owned members club, where visitors are welcome.

History

Over a century of South African golfing history, few clubs, if any, are able to claim a heritage like that of the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club. According to the sunshinetour.com, the club has hosted nine South African Open Championships and 11 Joburg Open Championships. Steeped in tradition and history yet setting the pace in club hospitality and management, it continues to be one of the most prestigious clubs of which to be a member. The famous clubhouse and bell tower create the ultimate setting for a luxury golf club.
