DE SILVA THRILLED WITH MALAGA SENIOR OPPORTUNITY

MBABANE – Eswatini football teenager Sachin de Silva has spoken out at Malaga FC after a big breakthrough.

De Silva joined Malaga FC’s U23s academy last month for a six-month assessment. According to www.fcmalagacity.com, for FC Malaga news, the player said he was proud as he was set to make his CD Almuñecar City senior debut last week. The Malaga FC academy is structured such that it has three development sides, being the CD Almuñecar City Under-23s, CD Almuñecar City Under-23s B team and the CD Almuñecar City senior team which are feeders to Malaga FC. In a first time interview with the relegated Spanish LaLiga outfit’s news crew, the former Interstars FC striker said he was thrilled after being called by the senior manager Juan Carlos Añon.

According to the team news and twitter page, the Swaziland-native (Eswatini), who initially joined #CDAC Under 23s, has impressed during his short time with the club - and has been called up by senior manager Juan Carlos Añon. “Being promoted to the senior team is a very proud moment. I have been working really hard so it feels amazing that my efforts have been rewarded,” he said. The player was also quoted saying his clearance came in on the first week of the month and as soon as it did, his coach informed him that he will be playing with the first team on the following weekend.

“It is a really exciting opportunity for me - I’m determined to show what I can offer, and hopefully solidify my place in the team,” he said. De Silva said he is enjoying his time in Spain, and is grateful for the support from his home country. “My time with the club so far has been a dream. The coaches, people and location are amazing - and I feel like I’m improving a lot every day. There isn’t a much better life for me right now. My goal in football is to keep learning and growing as a player - on and off the pitch. Playing in Spain is already a dream, so if I could progress higher in the divisions then that would be amazing. The support from back home in Swaziland (Eswatini) is amazing. It means the world to know that there are lots of people giving me love - and are on this journey with me,” he was quoted by the Malaga FC news crew.
