WANDERERS PLAYERS’ SALARIES SLASHED

MBABANE – Half a loaf is better than nothing.

Manzini Wanderers players will relate to this common adage after they were finally paid for January, but their salaries were slashed.

The salary cuts are as a result of the recently implemented no-work, no-pay policy by the hub giants as of the beginning of 2021.

Following the demise of Director Thembumenzi ‘T-Man’ Mkhatshwa, the team had challenges paying their players as they were last paid on December 24, 2020 as previously confirmed by team Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mlungisi ‘Mluga’ Ndzinisa.

The hub side mouthpiece was yesterday quoted attributing the delay of the salaries to the demise of Mkhatshwa who was said to have been directly involved in payment of the players as he had to sign when the funds were to be released.

However, this is a challenge the PRO said they swiftly addressed.

The players may have been paid their salaries, but as reported by this publication yesterday, the team had effected the no-work, no-pay policy, meaning each player had money for the days they did not report for training deducted.

“Yes it’s true that they eventually received their salaries today (yesterday),” said Ndzinisa.

He had explained that last week, money to pay players’ salaries was deposited in Manzini Wanderers’ account.

He said the deceased director handled the technicals and had to sign, but it was a short process they sorted out swiftly.

“What happened is that we introduced the no-work-no-pay policy effected as per the number of days the players were absent from training,” he said.

Sources had confided to this publication that players had started complaining before the end of last week as salaries were still not paid and decried the demise of ‘T-Man’ Mkhatshwa as he was the one responsible for this department.
