I CAN’T WAIT FOR RESTART - MENSAH

EZULWINI - Ghanaian forward Johnson Mensah was nearly hopeless about wearing the black and white of Mbabane Highlanders.

The former Matsapha United and Manzini Wanderers winger joined Highlanders this season after signing a six months long contract. However, a few days before the registration deadline, which was just under a fortnight ago, he was listening to other offers from Moneni Pirates and Royal Leopard.

This was due to non-registration at Highlanders despite the contract he had and the fact that the capital city giants had played two league matches while more foreigners were being signed. “I’m so happy to be a part of Highlanders finally as I have the club in my heart. I can’t wait for the league to start so I can push and help the team move forward,” he said.

He said he wanted to give his all as for him, it was not about just the league, but his dream to play abroad or in a more professional league. “I am surrounded by a lot of quality players so I know and believe in God that I can help Highlanders,” he said.

He said it was unfortunate that fans were not allowed into stadiums due the coronavirus outbreak but he still loved them a lot and will miss showcasing his talent in front of the Highlanders throngs.

Foreigners

Mensah is one of five foreigners in the club and only got registered after the unceremonious departure of striker Mandisa Gadla, while midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni has also reunited with Chippa United after just two matches for Highlanders this season. It’s now Mensah, Siphamandla Mlilo, Tshepo ‘Sikhwama’ Matete, Siphamandla Sangweni and Kenneth Moloto that make up the team’s foreign contingent.
