MBABANE – The facelift of the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Sigwaca House building is underway.

The EFA staff is currently on festive holidays and will report back to work tomorrow for the start of the 2021 year.

The local football mother body has taken the chance to renovate its infrastructure and construction personnel had been busy working for the past few days.

The Times Sports Desk paid a visit to the EFA building yesterday which also houses the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) offices and construction was underway both at the exterior and interior of the building.

On the building premises outside, a drainage tunnel was found being dug by the people hired for construction.

Inside the building, the old ceiling was removed and painting of the interior was done by other construction personnel working on the inside.

Floor tiles were at some parts of the building, downstairs especially, removed to be replaced with new ones among other renovation works.

confirmed

EFA Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe was drawn for comment and confirmed that renovations were taking place as the building was very old and worn out.

“We cannot deny the fact that renovations are taking place to upgrade the building as it is old and was now dilapidated. As you had seen, the renovations are also taking place at the premises of the building outside to address drainage issues,” said Radebe. He added that they also had to fix the roofing as the building was old and water would leak during rainy days.

Asked if the renovations would have been completed by tomorrow as they are supposed to return for work, Radebe said that part was technical and only the constructors were privy to that information and said what he knew was that they were carrying out phase one of the renovation process.

Radebe said he would also not disclose the costs for the renovations as that was administrative and will be reported in an appropriate forum, which he said was the next Annual General Meeting (AGM).
