KHAYA BACK AT BIRDS

MBABANE – It is a bittersweet relationship.

Long serving Mbabane Swallows official Khaya Vilakati has reportedly bounced back as the team’s Logistics Manager, months after he was shown the exit door in a major management committee (MC) reshuffle announced by the club’s President, Archbishop Bheki Lukhele. He has actually been in and out of the team’s management structures over the years, serving prominently during the reign of the late club boss Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze as manager. Trusted sources at the red and white glamour giants confirmed that Vilakati was now part of the MC again but it is not clear what prompted the decision.

“Khaya is a hardworking official at Swallows and his return is not a surprise at all. He is a Swallows person at heart and he has retained his position as Logistics Manager. He sometimes helps in the marketing department when required like when we unveiled our new kit and sponsor recently but he is the Logistics Manager,” our source revealed.

Vilakati was questioned about the latest developments and he confirmed that he was back in the already mentioned position, but referred inquiries to the club’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Mancoba Mabuza. Mabuza said the current structure of Swallows did not have a position called logistics manager and as such it is not true that Khaya occupies such a position. “Khaya is not a member of the management committee but as a true Swallows person he fully understands that at Swallows you don’t have to occupy a management position for you to serve this club,” he averred.
