PIGG’S PEAK – Her dream was to see the country hosting the COSAFA Women Championships.

That is the late firebrand lady sports administrator, Dudu Dube, who was laid to rest yesterday with about 100 people paying their last respect. This is according to Eswatini Women Football Association (EWFA) President Sonnyboy Mabuza, who represented the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) during the funeral service that lasted for about an hour. “She was behind the development of women football in the country and we believe that her dream of seeing the country playing host to the COSAFA Women Championships was going to come true.
“This was one way she wanted to use to raise awareness on women football and its importance in the country,” he said.

Came in numbers

The EWFA Executive was part of the mourners who came in numbers including Secretary Aaron Mavimbela, Musa Mamba, among others. Others were the Eswatini Teqball Federation executive, headed by Mfanafuthi ‘Taribo’ Bhembe. Dube, who is mother to former Sitsebe captain, Nonhlanhla Shoulder, was given a hero’s farewell as hands were clapped when her coffin was lowered into its final resting place by health workers as over 30 were present. Dube succumbed to death while employed under the Ministry of Health as an Environmental Health Officer.
