MBABANE – It was a one-of- a-kind spinning and aerobics marathon explosion.

The Capital Accurate Fitness (CAF) in collaboration with the Fitness Zone Gym in Ezulwini, hosted a one-of-a-kind aerobics and spinning workout session on Saturday morning. The two hour-long explosive workout session was choreographed by 11 aerobics instructors and seven spinning coaches. It all boiled down to power, stamina and endurance as the coaches took turns in leading the heated cardiovascular exercises such as the box, HI-lo, steps and martial arts aerobics. According to one of the CAF fitness coaches, Thabiso Mthethwa, this was the first time for aerobics and spinning to run concurrently under the same roof and share the same music.

Mthethwa said the purpose of the event was to remind people about the importance of exercise and healthy living considering the threat that was imposed by COVID-19, which also forced gyms to close, leaving a lot of fitness lovers demotivated.  He commended the attendants for the impressive turnout as there were 50 people sweating it out on the stationary bike and about 100 people in the aerobics section.

Fitness groups, teams, athletes and individual trainers pushed their limits and blasted calories during the high beneficial training session.

“Today was all about cardiovascular exercise and lifestyle in fitness. We wanted to remind people to exercise their bodies in all aspects. Everything came to a standstill when COVID-19 emerged and this event aimed at rebuilding the culture of exercise and thanks to everyone that joined us including the instructors and our cohosts, the Fitness Zone team,” said Mthethwa.

The fitness Zone Manager, Mavis Vanderzandt, said this was the final aerobat for the year 2020. She encouraged people to uphold their fitness training routines throughout the festive season and also encouraged them to be mindful of their nutrition during this time of the year, when most people sideline their nutrition programmes.

“We are grateful for the magnificent turnout and great weather. We hope that next year we will start on another high note. I would also like to thank all the fitness instructors that made this event a success,” said Vanderzandt.

Team Vulamasango member Bakitsi Dlamini had his first experience of an aerobics and spinning session of this magnitude. Dlamini thanked His Majesty’s Correctional Services’ instructors, Mandisa Sihlongonyane and Sibongile Ngwenya, for giving him and his colleagues a chance to share this experience.

“I started training last year and now I am focused on this lifestyle. I want to pursue a career as a fitness coach and help other people achieve their health and fitness goals. I would be happy to join another aerobics event in future,” said Dlamini.
