MBABANE – There was no rest for professional golfer James Pennington as he competed in the E29 million sponsored Alfred Dunhill Championship qualifiers yesterday.

The Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC) brand ambassador could not finish in the top to qualify for the Alfred Dunhill Championship, starting last Thursday to Sunday at the Leopard Creek Country Club, South Africa.

He competed in the qualifiers less than 48 hours after winning the Eswatini Professional Golf Association (EPGA) ESRIC Tour on Saturday at Royal Swazi Spa.

“I have been playing nicely in South Africa especially after changing some couples of things in my game. I have been getting close in the past two qualifiers. There are 100 players there and we are only playing for 10 spots. Everyone is really good. You have to shot very well and there is only one round. I’m learning every day and my game is getting close each day,” he said.

Pennington then thanked ESRIC for their continued support. He said having this tournament here at home was important.

“Thanks to ESRIC for their continued support to both myself and the EPGA. They are my sponsor and today I played in a tournament sponsored by them. As golfers we really appreciate what they are doing for sports,” he added.

Pennington said he will be coming back for the fourth edition of the EPGA ESRIC tour to be played in December at Nkonyeni Bushveld Course.
