MANCHESTER QUALIFY FOR NFD IN STYLE

MBABANE – Ingwenyama Cup regional champions, Manchester United, proved they did not win the regional cup by chance after hammering a hapless Mhlambanyatsi Community 9-2 on aggregate to earn a place in the National First Division.

On the first leg, which was played at Killarney Sports Ground this past Friday, it looked like Community stood a chance of winning the Swazi Trac Hhohho Super league title (also carries a ticket to the First Division) when the two sides played to a 1-all draw. However, the Jomo Dlamini-led charges turned the tables in the second leg which was played at Prince of Wales Sports Ground yesterday beating Community 8-1. The Pigg’s Peak based side are entitled to E17 500 champion prize while the runners-up will take home E6 600.

The visitors were inspired by the diminutive Muzi Tsabedze who scored a hat-trick and Sicelo Mkhonta who netted a brace. Also registering their name on the scorers chart were Sanele Maseko, Xolani Nzalo and Lundi Dlamini. The solitary goal for the home side was scored by Sipho Tsabedze.

The hat-trick hero, Tsabedze, said he was happy scoring the hat-trick and was looking to helping his team in the First Division.

Meanwhile, Manchester United coach, Jomo Dlamini, said despite that they won comfortably, they would have to reinforce ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Community coach Gerard Shield said the players were confident after holding them 1-1 away and complacency creeped in.

In other news, Shiselweni play-offs saw Nsingizini Hotspurs win 1-0 against Amalanda in the first leg which was played at King Sobhuza Stadium. The return leg will be played on Sunday at the same venue.
