‘BIRDS’ RANKED 421 IN AFRICA

MBABANE – Capital city giants, Mbabane Swallows are currently ranked 421 in Africa.

This is according to footballdatabase.com rankings which were released on Sunday.

 In the world, the ‘Birds’ are ranked 2 136. Noteworthy is that in the October rankings, they were ranked 2 135 while in September they were ranked 2 132.The September ranking was the best rank so far in 2020. In January, Swallows were ranked 2 146 in the world and they have improved over the past eight months.

Leading in Africa are Egypt’s Al Ahly and coming second is Esperance de Tunis of Tunish.

Closer to home, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns are ranked sixth in Africa, ahead of Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs who are ranked 16 and 19 respectively.

Swallow’s Communications and Marketing Manager Mancoba Mabuza said they would not get carried away by the rankings.

“We remain focused and our plan is to do exactly what the Club President Archbishop Bheki Lukhele instructed us to do. Our mandate is to go back to CAF competitions and finish where we left off,” he said.

“We know what exactly this means; it means we must start here at home and win the league and everything before us,” he added.
