MANZINI – Sweeping changes. This best describes the new-look Manzini Wanderers management committee (MC) announced by Chairman Reuben ‘Rhoo’ Nxumalo yesterday at the Manzini Club.

Worth noting is that the Hub giants have a new chief executive officer (CEO) replacing the late Pat Mahlalela and his name is Moses ‘Viv Anderson’ Khumalo. It is ironic that Khumalo was actually the chairman of the MC announced only a few days ago by the club’s council of elders’ chairman Joe Nkumane.

However, the new director, Nelspruit based businessman, Cedric Mathatha Mashile is reported to have made it clear that Nxumalo will have the authority to appoint his preferred MC. Indeed, Nxumalo convened the press briefing yesterday where he unveiled the new MC, with completely new faces including Khumalo.

Replaced

Gone are the likes of Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini and Legal Advisor Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli. The Manzini giants’ new spokesperson is Mlungisi Ndzinisa, while Sanele ‘Bee’ Zwane is the new treasurer, replacing Girly Johnson. ‘Bhanyaza’, who also previously held the position of MC chairman before his recent appointment as Legal Advisor, has been replaced by Vincent Nhlabatsi, who will now handle the legal affairs of the club.

Ncamiso Dlamini is the Head of Security and the new MC assumed duties yesterday at the same venue (Manzini Club) where they had a meeting with the technical bench headed by Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe to plan for pre-season preparations start.

Background

“Before choosing the new MC, I had to look at the background of each individual especially the way they handle themselves. I had to make sure that I pick those willing to work towards one direction and share the same ideas. Being chairman does not mean the other members are nothing because team work is what we should be promoting, it is not about positions for me,” Nxumalo said.

He then paid glowing tribute to the outgoing MC, praising them for the loyalty they displayed towards the maroon and white giants.

“We also hope the fans will embrace the new MC and give us the support we need instead of putting unnecessary pressure and expectations. They should give us a chance to do our best for the club,” he appealed.

He also mentioned that there won’t be changes in the technical bench as per directive of the new director. Ndzinisa, the new PRO, admitted that the appointment was a huge challenge for him, but sounded confident that he is up for the task.

“This is huge responsibility and I can only appeal for support from the Wanderers people especially because I will now be the face of the team. We all want what is best for the team and we, therefore, must share common goals with the fans,” he said.
