MBABANE – He has the full trust of the new director.

Hardly weeks after the announcement of a new Manzini Wanderers management committee (MC) by the council of elders, it has since emerged that this will change soon. This publication has been reliably informed that one of Wanderers’ renowned long-serving officials Reuben ‘Rhoo’ Nxumalo is expected to take the chairmanship. Actually, the new director, Nelspruit based  businessman Cedric Mathatha Mashile is said to have made it clear to the council of elders that he will be appointing his MC.

Notably, the elders recently announced a new MC headed by Moses ‘Viv Anderson’ Khumalo but it appears the new director has other plans as he has reportedly mentioned ‘Rhoo’ as his preferred candidate for chairmanship.

It is expected that the hub giants will announce further changes in the MC in the next coming days when the new director is finally officially unveiled to the public. “‘Rhoo’ Nxumalo will take over as the MC chairman when the new director is unveiled. The council of elders is aware that the new director wants ‘Rhoo’ to be the MC chairman. He will also be given the mandate to appoint his preferred MC,” our Wanderers’ sources confided last night.

Council of elders Chairman Joe Nkumane could neither confirm nor deny these developments but pointed out that such news has not been communicated to him as yet.

“I am busy with a family emergency and have not been up to date on what is happening in the club at the moment. It is for that reason that I cannot confirm or deny the issue you are asking me about because you will find that there have been developments in my absence. Maybe I am still to be briefed about that,” Nkumane said.

‘Rhoo’ was also reached for comment but he was evasive as he claimed not to have been contacted on the Wanderers’ position. “I am not aware of the Wanderers offer to be honest. Maybe, they are still to approach me and until that happens, I would rather not comment any further,” Nxumalo, who served deligently and loyally for years as the team’s spokesperson in the past, insisted.

Asked if he would consider Wanderers offer when officially approached, ‘Rhoo’ said his focus now was on cricket where he is serving in the local cricket association executive committee. “I am enjoying myself developing the sport of cricket and the break from football administration has been kind to me. Wanderers will always be home for me and until they come to me, I would rather not say much for now,” he stated.

Mashile is a successful businessman based in Nelspruit and owns a team campaigning in the ABC Motsepe League, Acornbush United. He also runs his companies with his brother Maphuta Mashile who is co-director at Acornbush United. Wanderers’ followers have been waiting impatiently for the new director to be officially unveiled and the sources are adamant that this will happen anytime soon.
