MBABANE – Sihlangu head-coach Dominic Kunene has received welcomed news that there are no longer injury concerns in his squad.

Left-back Sabelo ‘Sawa’ Gamedze, who has been doing light training in the past days after suffering a knock, has rejoined his team-mates alongside goalkeeper Khanyakwezwe Tshabalala, who was also receiving medical attention.

Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe confirmed that the two players have now recovered from their injuries and joined full training.

assessed

“Sawa has been doing light training while being assessed by the doctors for a knock, but I can confirm that he is now back in full training with the rest of the players. There were also injury concerns for goalkeeper Khanyakwezwe (Tshabalala) but he has also been given the clear to resume full training. This means all the players are now fit and ready for the trip to Congo Brazzaville next week,” he said.

Another player who was said to be struggling with injury was winger Sizolwethu Tshabalala but he is also involved in full training.

The local squad is preparing for the 2021 AFCON Qualifier against Congo Brazzaville to be played next week Thursday away from home before the return match a few days later at the Mavuso Sports Centre.

reduced

Currently, there are 23 players in camp but this number will be reduced to 18 before the squad departs by road to Johannesburg on Monday where they are expected to connect a flight to the Central African country.

The squad has been playing practice matches against Manzini Sea Birds behind closed doors at Somhlolo National Stadium as the coaches are trying to find the right combinations before the vital game next week. The nation’s pride has been camping at the EFA Technical Centre in Lobamba for the past two weeks.
