MBABANE – His mind is now made up.

Mbabane Swallows followers will be delighted to hear that ‘prodigal son’ Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze is back with the team after he started training with them on Tuesday.

This comes amid reports that the talented former Eswatini international mid-fielder had agreed in principle to join Swallows’ bitter rivals Mbabane Highlanders. Actually, the player convinced many that he was indeed joining Highlanders after he was pictured with the club’s South African boss Chief Ally Kgomongwe recently in Ezulwini. It would now seem that the former Polokwane City and Mbombela United skillful player has suffered a change of heart after he was spotted at Swallows’ training ground in Ezulwini being taken through his paces by the team’s head-coach Christopher Ennin with the rest of the players.

Information gathered by this publication was to the effect that ‘Pupu’ would be signing on the dotted line with the red and white glamour giants today after agreeing personal terms.

Asked about the player’s presence during their training and if they had an interest in signing him, Swallows’ Marketing and Communications Manager Mancoba Mabuza was very sarcastic in his response.

responded

“Pupu has always been part of Swallows. It’s his home. Mr Ndzinisa, how can you ask if we have plans for our own, it’s like asking if you have plans for your child,” Mabuza cheekily responded.  Kgomongwe could not be immediately reached for comment but it was recently reported that he had abandoned plans to sign the player in favour of former South Africa’s Orlando Pirates’ defender Thamsanqa Sangweni. ‘Pupu’ has also previously been linked with hub giants Manzini Wanderers but it looks like this move will no longer materialise.
