MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows might soon reunite with one of their most prized assets.

Former Nigeria-born striker Quadri Aledeokun Kola left the capital city giants in 2018 to join one of Africa’s powerhouses in Zambia’s Zesco United. Kola signed for an 18 months contract. The Nigerian striker was signed from Mbabane Swallows, where he had been on loan from Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows. Highly-placed sources have confided in this publication that the towering forward has indicated interest in reuniting with the red and white glamour side. According to sources, Kola wants a signing-on fee of about E300 000 and to maintain his Zesco United monthly salary of about E48 750 (US$3000).

Swallows’ Communications and Marketing Manager Mancoba Mabuza, when asked about the matter did not deny nor confirm the news. In a statement, he said according to their media relations policy as a club, they only communicated signing related information once the club President, Bishop Bheki Lukhele, had officially made a decision to that effect. He added that, they did this through a press conference or statement that got posted on their digital media platforms and shared with the media.

Market

“And yes, we cannot hide the fact that we are currently and looking for a striker in addition to the good strikers we have,” said Mabuza. Meanwhile, the player was also reached and did not want to comment save for only stating that he was not aware of the matter. The player’s agent Charles Matsebula said he was honestly not aware if Kola was negotiating with Swallows or not. Matsebula said perhaps if he could be given time to find out if this was true or not he could be in a better position to comment. Swallows have been one of the teams that have been strengthening their squad through the signing of quality players ahead of the 2020/21 season to kickoff on November 21, 2020.

Additions

New additions at the club include former Armenia’s FC Van’s Leon Manyisa, Nhlanhla ‘Jive’ Nkosi from Moneni Pirates, Denver Sundowns duo of Enzo Motsa and Emmanuel Nsiah among others. Swallows started preparations for the new season this past week and the players are training under the watchful eye of new coach in Ghanaian strategist Christopher Ennin.
The team has made it no secret that the intention is to return to compete in Africa’s inter-club competitions being the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
