MBABANE – The race for the vacant coaching position at Mbabane Swallows has attracted as many as five coaches with Ghanaian coach, Christopher Ennin, emerging as a hot favourite.

The Times Sports Desk has established that the ‘Birds’ have shortlisted five candidates for the vacant coaching position at the Mbabane giants.

Club president Archibishop Bheki Lukhele, during his 56th birthday celebration at the All Nations Church premises yesterday, announced the prodigal son, Siyabonga Bhembe, as the new assistant coach and physical trainer with the new coach expected to be unveiled in the next coming days.

Denver Sundowns coach Christopher Ennin is believed to be leading the race to take the hot seat left vacant by Zambian coach Honour Janza, who tendered his resignation letter a month ago after accepting an offer to join NAPSA Stars in his home country as technical director. Swallows have kept the issue of the coach under wraps, giving nothing away as a number of coaches continue to be linked with the team.

“Talks with Ennin have been finalised and his name now only needs the blessing of the president (Archbishop Bheki Lukhele) before he is officially unveiled as the new Mbabane Swallows coach. He has the right credentials to take up this coaching post because he has the international experience needed to coach a big club like Swallows. It is now only a matter of time before he is unveiled,” our Swallows’ source claimed.
