MBABANE – Hold your horses. This idiom holds true for supporters of the elite hub giants Manzini Wanderers, who had proposed to the team’s council of elders to hold a meeting this Saturday. The proposal has been declined and the meeting will not take place.

“As council of elders we do not feel this is the right time to hold a supporters’ meeting. The first meeting to be held will be the unveiling of the new director. Currently, there is a restriction on numbers attending any gathering, so we need to respect the COVID-19 regulations,” said the hub side’s Council of Elders Chairman Joe Nkumane yesterday during a press conference at Mountain Inn hotel, just minutes outside the capital city.

disbanded

Nkumane, who was also in the presence of the management committee (MC), which had been reportedly disbanded by a certain local daily, also applauded their national supporters’ committee (NSC) for establishing a branch in Bhunya. He said this was encouraged.

The club’s NSC led by Mduduzi ‘Mr G’ Ginindza had proposed to convene a supporters’ meeting this weekend. Ginindza was called about this but asked not to say anything as all he knew was that they had been invited to a meeting by the elders.

explained

“They had not said anything yet save for the meeting invite, so there’s nothing I can share,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Nkumane further pleaded for patience from their supporters and all those who love the club. He also said very soon they would unveil the new sheriff in town but the club would commit to questions about what will happen to the current debts they have, including players’ salaries.

“Once we’ve discussed that, we’ll release a press statement,” responded the team’s Chairman Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli.

He said salaries were a confidential issue and could not be discussed without even the parties involved which, include the players.
