SITEKI – It is indeed a beginning of a new era for Madelezini Happy Girls under Director Sithembiso Ngudze Mamba as they have since assumed a new name - Callies Happy Girls.

This transpired during the joint end-of-season and thanksgiving ceremony for Premier League side Tambankulu Callies and the former Madelezini Happy Girls. The colourful event was held at Magadzavane Lodge in Siteki. Also witness to new bond of the men’s and ladies’ teams led by Mamba. The prominent businessman and profound sportsman said the change of name for the northern Hhohho based ladies team cemented their union.

Mamba is the first person to run both men and ladies’ teams in the history of Eswatini football. He acknowledged that Callies was now ticking all the boxes as FIFA Club Licensing required that they have a development team of juniors, a women football team and a men’s senior team.

“Madelezini Happy Girls will now be known as Callies Happy Girls. We are united as a family that shares one vision of growth and prosperity in football competitions. We are here to compete and win not just to add numbers,” said Mamba.
As the nation awaits government’s orders pertaining to the resumption of football, Mamba said their next task was to formulate a strategic development plan for both teams including their goals for the upcoming season.

“I am happy that members of the football fraternity honoured our invitation and came to welcome us to the premier league. We are rebranding our team after being relegated in the previous season. Rest assured, we are here to leave our mark and planning to win in both the men and women football competitions,” he said.
Callies Happy Girls former director and current executive chairman Joster Mathonsi thanked Mamba for having delivered them from their financial burden which he said hindered their performance in the Women Football League.

“We were at the bottom of the log table because sometimes we missed games due to lack of transport to playing venues and we would lose points. All that is behind us now as our director will cater for everything and our task is to train hard and bring him a welcome trophy next season,” said Mathonsi.
The team’s head coach, Fakazile Vilakati, warned other women football teams to brace themselves for a new and highly competitive team. She said that their team building strategy would ensure that only the players made it to the squad.

“Consistency leads to perfection and my duty as a coach is to make sure that players attend training. I will keep a register so that we can monitor their attendance. We want to make our boss proud,” said Vilakati.

She further thanked everyone who assisted them during tough times before the arrival of the new director. These include Mhlangatane Member of Parliament Madala Mhlanga, Manzini Wanderers Ladies FC and the media, especially Times of Eswatini that publicised their need for a new director, which Mamba gladly responded to within 24 hours of publication.

: Squatters on farms
The influx of squatters on farms will always be a challenge unless chiefs are salaried and regulated by government. Do you agree with this sentiment shared by farm owners?
