MBABANE – In the end, only the best two teams will make it to the finals of the Eswatini Cricket Association’s (ECA) 2019/2020 Men’s T20 Season Two League.

The champions of the Season One ECA Men’s T20 League, Pak XI, have their eyes fixed on the ultimate crown as they hope to trample over Rontanya XI in their semi-final fixture slated for today starting at 10am at Malkerns Sports and Country Club. The two teams met in the Season One finals and Pax XI proved invincible as they managed to grind two points as they won by 57 runs. Pak XI’s captain Muhammed Ashfaq declared war on Rontanya XI and promised to bring an experienced team with only one goal, and that is to strive through to the finals.

optimal

“Everyone is hoping that we display a good game like we did in the last tournament. Our guys are more than ready for this fixture and very much excited. Our edge is that we have much experienced players and we will use that experience to our optimum,” said Mohammed.

He, however, acknowledged Rontanya XI as a highly competitive team and admitted that they were a tough team to beat.

“Rontanya XI are a good side and that is why they won their matches to reach the semi-finals,” added Mohammed.

Meanwhile, Rontanya XI Captain Mustakim Yusuf promised to turn the tables against Pak XI. He said that their first season clash gave them insight to Pak’s playing strategy.

overpower

“We will try our best to win the game and we will not give them a single chance to overpower us. It’s payback time for us and we cannot afford to lose to them again when we have come so far and so close to winning the league,” said Yusuf.

The winner between the two cricket giants will face either Dada XI or Rogues XI who are scheduled to go head-to-head in a morning match billed for 10am. ECA Public Relations Officer Mandla Dlamini reminded teams and cricket fans that fans and spectators will not be allowed into the playing venue, but only the teams that will be competing.

“The rules still stand. Spectators are not allowed and that applies to players from the other teams that were knocked out of the competition. It’s protocol and we can’t defy the government’s rules,” said Dlamini.
