MBABANE - TS Sporting Chairman Slungu Thobela has alleged that Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa signed a one-year contract with them.

He made these comments after being asked by this publication to share his side of the story regarding the saga of the Eswatini international player.

Ndzinisa was banned for two years while his team (Mbombela United) was docked 23 points and relegated in the process to the third tier league.

The verdict was given last Sunday, when Mbombela United were not represented, in the South African Football Association (SAFA) Arbitration ruling.

Appealing

The matter goes on as Mbombela are appealing. “We signed a one-year contract with Sabelo Ndzinisa on May 24, 2019. That was during the time of the COSAFA Cup.  It was me, my driver, Sabelo and his agent, Donald Aphane,” alleged Thobela.

When asked if it was possible that he shared the details of the contract, he said it was not possible.

“A contract is between a player and the team so we cannot forward you the contract,” he said.

When asked if he paid any money for the player, he said;

“We got Sabelo as a free agent so how can you pay money for a player who was out-of-contract?” he alleged.

He narrated that when it was time for preseason they were expecting ‘Sikhali’ to join them but he did not show up. I happen to stay near where Mbombela United trains. I learnt that he was training with Mbombela and I was appalled since the player had signed with us,” added the TS Sporting chairman.

When quizzed further what his reaction was when he discovered that the player was training with another team, he said he called Mbombela boss Oupa Matsebula and let him know that the player had signed with them.

“Mbombela insisted that the player belonged to them.

“That is when I had to take the matter to the highest level,” he said. TS Sporting reported the matter to SAFA that the player had signed two contracts with two different teams and the verdict came out last week and it was in favour of TS Sporting.

Asked what his summary comments were, on the saga, he said: “Sikhali was not honest with his agent. Had he told his agent that he signed a contract with us, this could have not come this far,” he alleged.

Comments

Efforts to get comments from Ndzinisa were futile as his mobile phone was unreachable.

Mbombela United Chairman Matsebula did not entertain messages that were sent to him via WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, according to comments from Mbabane Swallows General Manager Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane, which he made during the Eswatini Sports Show on national radio, he said they were going to meet with all the relevant stakeholders at Swallows to deliberate on the Sikhali issue before they call a press conference.
