MBABANE – A top official at Mbabane Swallows has been cited in the matter involving Mbombela United international striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa.

According to reports, Ndzinisa was handed a two-year ban and 23 points to be docked from Mbombela United after TS Sporting were victorious in the case. This will see the Mpumalanga-based outfit being relegated from the GladAfrica Champions to the ABC Motsepe League.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is yet to issue an official verdict after the South African Football Association (SAFA) Arbitration heard the matter on Sunday morning in the absence of Mbombela United and the player’s representatives.

Answer

A source close to the matter said one official has been implicated in the matter and he has to answer on the matter, especially if Mbombela United do appeal over the verdict. The official is known to the Sports Desk but he would not be named for now as he has not been officially served to answer on the matter.

“One official travelled with the player to South Africa before the move to Mbombela United was officially done. If the team has to answer on this case, one of the officials would have to answer, but Swallows cleared the player to Mbombela United,” said the source.

The only player who signed for TS Sporting was Sanele Mkhweli, who played for only one season. Mbabane Swallows striker Sandile Hlatshwako’s deal fell through.

TS Sporting chairman Slungu Thobela, alleges that Ndzinisa signed a contract with them before joining Mbombela United. He told South African kick-off that Mbombela United used their players.

Signed

“The team used a player that has signed with TS Sporting, they backdated the contract, so they’ve committed fraud.  The case is with the PSL, we are just waiting for a judgment. They signed him in June but they are allegedly saying they have signed him in January.

“There’s no evidence that they have signed him in January,” said Thobela.

Mbabane Swallows Marketing and Communications Manager Mancoba Mabuza said the team had not given him the mandate to speak on-behalf of former players.

“We are too big, an African brand to concern ourselves with street-manufactured allegations,” he said.
