MBABANE – Pak XI’s dominance in the 2019/2020 Eswatini Cricket Association’s Men T-20 League is growing in leaps and bounds following another victory witnessed on Monday at Malkerns Country Club.

This is where they thrashed Cricket Mbabane by 213 runs.

Cricket Mbabane won the toss and inserted Pak XI. The first season champions’ batting started conservatively and at four overs, they had 50 runs on the board.

Opener Adil Butt (164 runs of 75 balls not out) with his clean hitting, enabled Pak XI to set a merciless target of 258 runs in their allotted 20 overs, which was a mammoth task for the opposition.

Confused

Cricket Mbabane’s confused fielding placed Pak XI at an advantage to bag single and extra runs.

In their target chance, the capital city team were caught between a rock and a hard surface in the fifth over as they were in 15/5. Pak XI’s aggressive bowling by Tariq Mugal (four for 13) and Saqib Mohammed (three for seven) restricted Cricket Mbabane from getting within a striking target distance.

Delisa Malinga (18 runs of 21 balls) tried to resuscitate the batting with some clean hitting but unfortunately could not stay long as he was caught out in the 11th over. The Mbabane team was all out in 12.2 overs with only 45 runs on the board.

Commended

ECA Secretary General Rueben ‘Rhoo’ Nxumalo commended the teams for their continued compliance with the rules and regulations guiding safety and health amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The game was played on Monday which was a holiday and everything went well. We are not taking any chances as we observe all the rules set by government and the sports council. Nothing has changed and we insist that spectators are not welcome during the league games,” said Nxumalo.

According to this weekend’s fixtures, Sixers Club will face Rontanya XI.
