EZULWINI - The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Executive Committee met with Mbabane Highlanders yesterday.

The meeting which lasted until the evening hours from 3pm, was held in Ezulwini at the Happy Valley Hotel. The PLE had requested a meeting with the club’s South African Director Chief Ally Kgomongwe to quash the reported assistance he gave to Manzini Wanderers last week. He paid players and staff salaries and is helping them get a new director.

“We had a good meeting with the PLE Executive Committee, there were six of the members present. They were very nice to us and our talks were held well,” said the club director’s representative in the meeting, Benson Dlamini.

Kgomongwe could not make it to the second meeting but attended last week. He was asked to write another explanation letter after the PLE felt dissatisfied with his first one. “You can talk to PLE, we responded to them as per their request and they will say what was discussed,” Dlamini said.

PLE Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati confirmed the meeting took place. “We’re yet to meet Wanderers then we’ll issue a statement,” he responded.

Pressed further, he diplomatically said: “Highlanders had a fruitful meeting with the PLE.

“We got what we wanted from them and we were satisfied.” However, according to a source part of the meeting, no charges were preferred against the Pretoria-based businessman.

Vilakati did not want to go into the finer details of their discussions but asserted that they would be seeing Wanderers today.

The two teams were alleged to have breached the PLE Constitution after Kgomongwe announced he would loan them money for salaries.

He paid half the salaries due to the players and staff, about E75 000. No immediate reaction could come from Kgomongwe at the time of compiling this report last night.
