MBABANE - As the Absa Premiership and GladAfrica Championship resume their programmes, Premier Soccer League (PSL) prosecutor Nande Becker has confirmed 25 pending disciplinary cases to deal with.

Eswatini International and Mbombela United striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa’s case is among the 25 cases to be heard by the PSL prosecutor. The prosecutor as quoted by yesterday’s South African publication, City Press, said these cases were made up of different causes of actions that led to the contravention of the compliance manual. “There are approximately 25 outstanding matters that are triable. With the shortened season, however, I am going to prioritise and deal with new and ‘older’ matters based on urgency,” Becker said. He said arrangements were being made to finalise hearings of the dispute resolution chamber and disciplinary committee electronically, which is necessary due to restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The logistics of the hearings, he said, have been made more challenging because all the PSL clubs (including their officials) would be locked inside a biologically safe environment - the ‘bio-bubble.’-until the completion of the 2019/20 season. Because of this, we’re faced with a practical balance in respect of witnesses needing to appear,” said Becker. The GladAfrica Championship has a pending case involving a dispute between relegation-threatened sides TS Sporting and Mbombela United over the registration of Ndzinisa. TS Sporting claim Ndzinisa signed with them at the start of the season before joining Mbombela United. Becker said the matter would be heard by the dispute resolution chamber.

“It must, however, always be borne in the mind that there’s no sanction in our rules prescribing that fielding an improperly registered player will forfeit matches featuring that player. Clubs tend to forget this fact leading to unnecessary protests and complaints,” the PSL prosecutor said. Mbombela United assistant coach Siyabonga Bhembe said they could not comment much on the matter because they were waiting for the verdict. “Sikhali will play, as we said in previous interviews, we are clean on this matter,” Bhembe said. ‘Tingwenyama’ as they are popularly known will lock horns with Cape Umoya United. This is the very team which beat them 2-1 in the first round (December 3, 2019).Seemingly Cape United have an edge over Mbombela United as they also managed to boot them out of the Nedbank last 16 in February last year.
