MBABANE – If the EswatiniBank Cup is cancelled, Mbabane Highlanders will be ready for the CAF Confederations Cup action.

The winner of the EswatiniBank Cup gets a ticket to represent the country in the continental tournament. Eight teams, being Highlanders, Mbabane Swallows, Moneni Pirates, Young Buffaloes, Tambuti, Madlenya, Malanti Chiefs and Green Mamba remain in the EswatiniBank Cup that was suspended in March in the quarter-final stage due to the COVID-19.

Highlanders Managing Director (MD) Ally Kgomongwe minced no words as he said should that chance avail itself, they would be ready to represent the country. Kgomongwe was speaking during the unveiling of three signees in Sibonkhosi Dlamini, Siwakhile Shongwe and Siphosethu Mlotsa on Tuesday at the club house, Ezulwini.

Highlanders were due to play Malanti Chiefs before the games were suspended while Mbabane Swallows were to face Green Mamba with Moneni Pirates having been drawn against Young Buffaloes. The fourth fixture was to be between Tambuti and Madlenya.

“We have bigger ambitions as a team. It is our dream to play in Africa and represent the country, but for now the tournament has not been ended and we will wait and see. We are ready to play any given time,” he said.

Kgomongwe added that Highlanders were ready to play even if they would be called back to resume matches under their coach Dumisani Makhanya.
