MBABANE – Golfer Phumlile Zwane was the overall winner of the ladies category of the ESRIC Monthly Mug.

This is after she carded home a score of 85 points in the monthly tournament which was played at Mbabane Golf Club on Saturday. The tournament, which attracted 53 golfers, saw Zwane shining in the ladies category, beating her only contender Fisiwe Vilane. Despite having a long day, Vilane managed to win the longest drive award.

Reached for comment, Zwane who plays with an index handicap of 12.4 said; “I am happy to be back playing golf in the new normal environment. Though this was not my best score, I enjoy playing golf. I started playing golf about 15 years ago and it was introduced to me by the company I previously worked for,” said Zwane.

She encouraged more ladies to partake in golf tournaments.

“It is a relaxing sport which allows us not only to network but also promote business connections among the golfers,” she added.
Shining in the overall category was Steven Mavuso with a net score of 70 points while Sifiso Vilane walked away with the gross mug award after carding 70 points.

Reached for comment, Mbabane Golf Club Ladies Captain Fisiwe Vilane noted the improved numbers from golfers who are not members of the Mbabane Golf Club.  She said golfers were welcome to partake in their monthly or weekly staged competitions.
