MBABANE – Former Mbabane Citizens winger Craig Abrahams’ Lusaka Dynamos will have their first match of the season re-start against Zesco United.

For the former local side player, it will not just be a tough fixture but a daunting task not just for him but a number of players for both teams as they fear for their lives.
According to Abrahams, whose country of origin is neighbouring South Africa, they fear to be exposed to the coronavirus.

This is despite that safety measures are followed as some of the players from the Zambia elite league were reported to have contracted the virus.
“It is true that we have been given the go ahead to start playing again. We are in camp while we continue to work towards our first game against Zesco United on August1, 2020 at our home stadium.
So far it’s been going well adhering to the safety measures but we can’t rule out that we are safe from exposure as other teams have had players results come back positive a day before the match,” said the former ‘Ezinkulu’ playmaker.
Meanwhile, when he was on top of his game, the coronavirus outbreak became a major blow in his football career.

Abrahams, who is an important figure for his new Zambia team in Dynamos, did not really have a prosperous career in Eswatini while with Citizens last season and due to a number of challenges faced by the local team, he opted to resign and returned back to his home country South Africa.
When the current season began, he clinched a deal with the top Zambian Premier League outfit where his potential blossomed.

According to the player, Lusaka Dynamos had not lost a game in 2020 and the break as a result of the coronavirus pandemic has dealt them a huge blow as he said they had lost momentum.

“It’s been a testing time both mentally and physically. The thought of getting ill because of such a deadly virus and possibly making your family sick when being out of your home country plays on one’s mind, the break in football is also a setback as we have gained good momentum as a team going unbeaten so far for this year so it will be really tough to maintain that now that we are restricted to home training as individuals,” he said. The player also added that other than that he continued making Duah (prayers) that this ailment shall pass and all will get back to normal.
