MBABANE – Royal Leopard are considering giving former head coach Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane another chance at the helm of the club.

Classified information from the police outfit camp is to the effect that a section of the team’s Management Committee (MC) feels he is the right man for the job as the incumbent in Edwin Matsebula has offered enough.

In 2015, under the tutelage of Ntibane, Leopard were nicknamed ‘giant-killers’ following their success in the CAF Confederation Cup.
They beat DRC side AS Vita Club 1-0 in a Last-16, first-leg clash whereas they had over-turned a 0-3 defeat by South African giants Bidvest Wits to progress to the next round of the continental second-tier inter-club competition.

Ntibane had also led the police outfit to victory after the preliminary round against Angola’s Petro Atletico.
Sources within the police side claim some officials from Leopard have already approached Ntibane over the possible return to the team.

Information gathered is to the effect that the current coach, Matsebula, has not delivered as expected and mandated by authorities.
“It is true that they approached Ntibane to reunite with the team,” the sources confided.
According to the sources, Ntibane has done a very good job with National First Division side Tinyosi, who were expected to have already gained promotion this season if it were not for the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Drawn for comment, Ntibane did not deny the news but politely asked not to comment.
“May I not comment on issues that are work-related,” he said briefly.
Leopard Public Relations Officer (PRO) Frank Hurube, on the other hand, claimed that the people who felt Matsebula could not deliver had only one intention, to destroy the team.

“These are people who are out to destroy the team, their mission is solely to distabilise the team. The Management Committee (MC) is happy with the current technical team and the coach,” said Hurube.

reinstating

He claimed the issue of reinstating Ntibane was never discussed by the MC and said even the president of the team, William Dlamini, was happy with Matsebula.
“Those who are not happy with Matsebula tell them to go drink Panado and water,” said the agitated Hurube.

He added that people were out to destroy the team and they (Leopard) were only fighting for unity. “They should not destroy us,” he said.
The PRO said they were looking forward to when football officials announced the restart of football games and intended to continue with Matsebula.
