FIFA PUMPED IN E21 MILLION TO EFA LAST YEAR

EZULWINI – The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) is the biggest funder of the Eswatini Football Association’s (EFA) operations.

The world football governing body pumped in a sum of E21 943 961 to the local football mother body in the year ending December 31, 2019. The EFA had actually budgeted a sum of E14 400 000. This is according to the financial statements that were presented to the EFA delegates during the 2020 Ordinary General Assembly held at the Happy Valley Resort yesterday. Reputable audit firm, KPMG Chartered Accountants (Swaziland) audited the finances of the EFA and yesterday, were represented by its partner, VM Nkabinde, who declared the financial statements as unqualified.

According to the financial statements, which were later approved by the delegates, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) pumped in a sum of E2 871 944 in the financial year ending December 31, 2019. The EFA had budgeted a sum of E2.4 million. The financial statements were approved by the EFA Executive Committee during a meeting held on June 11 at Sigwaca House. As exclusively revealed by this newspaper two weeks ago, the EFA posted an operational surplus of E2.9 million (E2 901 981) at the end of the year ending December 31, 2019. The EFA has budgeted E14 400 000 for FIFA funding for the year, 2020 and E23 200 000 for the year 2021.

Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngometulu said the association received grants from Government of Eswatini, FIFA, CAF, COSAFA and Eswatini National Sports Council. “Income is derived from gate-takings, registration fees, rental, sponsorships, appeal and protest, accommodation at the technical centre and affiliation fees,” he told the delegates in the well attended meeting which lasted a little over two hours. The EFA also received a sum of E2 056 540 for Television rights from both CAF and FIFA.
They had initially budgeted a sum of E500 000. “Rental income was E391 704 with ticketing raising E160 396,”part of the report reads.
