BEAUTY QUEENS JOIN MS AFRICA MLILWANE HIKE

MBABANE – They all came to support bodybuilder and fitness coach Zama Potgieter.

Over 50 people, young and old, kick started their Saturday with an invigorating mountain hike held at Mlilwane Game Reserve. The fundraiser hike was organized by Eswatini’s warrior woman and fitness coach Zama Potgieter who is in the mission to raise E35 000 for the African Queens Foundation. Potgieter is one of 65 African goddesses who were chosen to contest for the Ms Africa crown, a beauty contest held under the African Queens Foundation.

Beauty queens in Miss Eswatini Nondumiso Dlamini, Miss South Africa 2020 semi-finalist Savannah Schustzler, former Miss Earth 2017 Orielia Egambaram and Little Miss Eswatini Shakira Mamba also came to support Potgieter as they challenged themselves to the 8.5km incline while exploring the trails which showcase the beautiful scenery and wildlife of Eswatini. Adults had to part with E100 and children paid E50 to participate in the hike. In respect of the social distancing rule resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak, the attendants were divided into small groups of five to 10 people and were dispatched in 20-30minutes intervals.

“I am grateful to all the people who came to support me on this course. It was a challenging route but worth the challenge because the view from the top was breathe taking. I would also like to thank Clover Company that sponsored us with refreshments. Oracle Insurance company staff also came in numbers and received 50 percent discount,” said Potgieter. One of the African Foundation’s projects is to assist women who are affected by the endemic goiter across the African continent and to buy reusable sanitary pads for the African girl-child who is under-privileged. During the global warming era and in light of the escalating rate of poverty, the reusable and washable Dignity Dreams sanitary pads manufactured by a team of previously unemployed up skilled women will ensure that girls save on money and minimize environmental pollution. It is believed that one pack of the sanitary towels replaces 864 disposable pads over the same period.
