MBABANE – Congratulations are in order for Madelezini Happy Girls football team after acquiring a new director in Tabankulu Callie’s Chairman Ngudze Mamba.

The Eswatini Women Football Association (EWFA) has applauded the Hhohho- based ladies team for getting a new director who promised to support their needs and help them develop to greater standards. Ngudze responded to Happy Girls’ plea for a new leader upon reading their story that was published in the Times of Eswatini on May 30, 2020.

As a welcome gift, Mamba presented Happy Girls with E10 000 and further pledged to donate food parcels of the same value to needy families in the Mhlangatane community.

Passion

Mamba said his interest in taking over the directorship of the team was mainly driven by the girls’ passion and determination for the sport despite the financial struggles they faced.
“My mission is to make them a professional team and see them develop because they have the passion but lack financial support. Through this partnership, we will get more supporters for both teams and also recruit players from Mhlangatane to join Callies and that will help develop the teams,” said Mamba.
WFA General Secretary Aaron ‘Katalala’ Mavimbela said he believed that the arrival of Mamba marked the beginning of a new era for Happy Girls. He said the team was on the verge of being suspended from the league due to their failure to honour games mainly because of transportation challenges.

Stabilise

“We are happy for them in getting a new director and we believe that he will help them stabilise financially. This will also have a positive impact on their performance and participation in league games,” said Mavimbela.

According to Article 15, Section one of the WFA Rules and regulations 2019/2020, all members of the WFL are obliged to take part in all competitions and other activities organised by the WFL. Article 16 states that the Executive Committee has the power to suspend, with immediate effect, a member that has committed a serious breach of the WFL statutes or directives.
