MBABANE – A power struggle has ensued at Manzini Wanderers.

Following reports carried by this publication that the National Supporters Committee (NSC) through Secretary Sizwe ‘Motaung’ Shongwe has written a letter requesting the MC to withdraw two of its members and replacing them with the NSC Chairman Mduduzi ‘Mr G’ Ginindza, turmoil has arose. Logoba branch supporters’ Mthunzi Dlamini has come out with guns blazing, insisting that they will not be stepping down unless relieved of their duties by the Elders or MC. Dlamini, together with Siphofaneni branch’s Mduduzi Vilakati, are the two members which the NSC requested the MC withdrew.

The reason the NSC asked that the MC withdrew the duo was that they were appointed to the MC as representatives of supporters and now that a NSC was elected and Ginindza was the chairperson, they pleaded that Ginindza replace the two as per their constitution. However, Dlamini has insisted that none other than the Elders and MC had the power to remove them from their MC positions, as he alleged that they were appointed by the MC to that position and not any other structure. “Only Elders and the MC have the power to withdraw us from this position. There are structures to be respected and followed at Manzini Wanderers and people should know their positions,” he said.

Turmoil

Dlamini added that there was turmoil at the team and said the absence of a director has resulted in crisis. “I do not want people who are not mandated to talk about certain issues to go around doing so on issues above their scope of power,” he said. Dlamini said nobody loved the team more than the other and said those who served within the team structures did so out of love for the club. He added that the positions were not equal and people should learn to respect that. “I was the chairperson of the Task Team and appointed to the MC. We worked under difficult conditions and sacrificed a lot. No one can then come back and say we are not members of the MC and there was no meeting held with the NSC to discuss a matter of this nature,” said Dlamini. Dlamini said he was flexible in leaving his MC position if Wanderers felt he has served enough but not to be told to do so by people who did not have that authority.
Chairman of the Council of Elders Joe Nkumane said he did not have a clear picture on the whole issue and asked to be contacted later today as he was still to find out what was really happening.
